Frequently Asked Questions
What is the "Price" and the "Fee"? Answer: The cost to apply to FIT is $25. The "Fee" is what the Northern California Society of American Foresters pays to Eventbrite for the web-based application fee processing. It was necessary to include an application fee to discourage people from applying and then not participating. Even with the $25 application fee about 35% of applicants don't participate. Can I receive a refund of the $25 application fee? Answer: No, there is no refund of the application fee. The Northern California Society of American Foresters began charging an application fee several years ago as a way to reduce participant withdrawal. The application fee appears to be too low to reduce this behavior as the withdrawal rate continues to exceed 30%. Can I obtain Professional Development Credits? Answer: Yes, up to 3 credits are offered at each session. The credits are through Humboldt State University for those that attend the Humboldt County session and through UC Davis Extension for those that attend the 3 Sierra sessions. The total cost for 3 units is approximately $200. Information will be shared at the session. These credits have been acceptable for past participants. Can I attend FIT again? Answer: Yes, but you must pay the cost of participation of $800. |
